Gold bullion bars illustrate Malaysia gold price quotes and the RM566 per gram retail offer

Malaysia gold price quotes on Saturday, 24 October MYT, showed the gap between an indicative spot reference and a retailer’s counter price. GB Gold’s live board listed its 999.9 bar at RM566 per gram to buy and RM526.38 per gram on buyback at 10:15 AM Malaysia time.

The board’s two-sided quote leaves RM39.62 between the amount a customer pays and the stated buyback rate for GB Gold bars and dinar. HargaEmas.my’s separate 10:13 AM spot reference was RM526.62 per gram for 999 gold and RM482.39 for 916 gold. These figures describe different products and price points, not competing offers for the same item.

Malaysia Gold Price: The Saturday Dealer Quote

GB Gold’s live board showed its 999.9 bar selling for RM566 per gram, up RM2 or 0.35% from the day’s opening reference. Its buyback price rose RM1.86, also 0.35%, to RM526.38. The company says the buyback figure applies to its own bars, dinar and gold held in its Gold Bullion Storage service. Its page labels the rates indicative and says the final counter quote is confirmed after weighing and testing.

The RM39.62 difference is the provider’s displayed buy-sell gap for that product. It is about 7% of the RM566 selling quote before any other costs. A buyer who sells immediately at the displayed buyback rate would face that gap, although actual resale terms depend on the product, its condition and the seller’s checks.

For jewellery, the calculation can differ again. GB Gold’s page lists separate rates by purity for pieces from other brands and says workmanship paid at purchase is not returned on resale. A 916 jewellery quote therefore should not be compared directly with the price of a 999.9 bar.

Saturday’s retail board follows a volatile week in bullion. BullBuzz reported Friday’s Bank Negara Malaysia Kijang Emas selling quote at RM17,432 per ounce, after a RM426 daily reduction. Thursday’s official quote had risen RM34, showing how quickly the local benchmark can reverse.

Spot Reference Is Close to the Buyback Rate

HargaEmas.my published an aggregated Malaysian spot reference of RM526.62 per gram for 999 gold at 10:13 AM MYT. Its 916 reference was RM482.39. The page warns that these are reference prices rather than official shop buy or sell quotes. The 999 reference was RM0.24 above GB Gold’s stated buyback price, but the near match does not make the rates interchangeable: purity, product brand, transaction terms and update timing differ.

The distinction matters because a search for a single “gold price” can mix an international benchmark, a calculated local spot rate and a retailer’s sale price. For a purchase decision, the amount charged at the counter is the relevant figure. For a sale, the provider’s buyback rate and eligibility rules matter more.

Bank Negara’s Latest Kijang Emas Table Is From Friday

Bank Negara Malaysia’s Kijang Emas page had no Saturday row when checked. Its latest listed business-day prices were for 23 October: RM17,432 to sell and RM16,744 to buy for a one-ounce coin. The half-ounce prices were RM8,881 and RM8,372, while the quarter-ounce quotes were RM4,522 and RM4,186.

BNM’s Kuala Lumpur USD/MYR reference rate was 4.0841 on Friday. The rate helps explain why a Malaysia price can diverge from a dollar-denominated gold chart, alongside the underlying metal move and dealer margins. The BNM exchange rate is a delayed reference for general information, not a live counter conversion.

Global Gold Fell During the Week

Reuters reported that spot gold was at US$4,023.95 an ounce at 12:10 GMT on Friday, after earlier touching US$3,986.50, its lowest since 20 July. Bullion was down 3.5% for the week, its second consecutive weekly decline. The report linked pressure to higher oil prices and expectations that US interest rates could stay elevated for longer.

Those global figures are a last-trading-session reference, not a Saturday quote. Gold does not produce interest, so higher expected returns on interest-bearing assets can reduce its relative appeal. The same Reuters report said the Federal Reserve was expected to hold rates at its 27–28 October meeting; that was a market expectation, not a decision already made.

What Malaysian Gold Buyers Should Watch Next

Bank Negara’s next Kijang Emas update will provide the next official local coin benchmark. Retail boards can change on their own schedules, so the time beside a price matters when comparing it with a bank or jewellery shop quote.

Before buying or selling, check the exact purity and product, compare both the sale and buyback sides, and confirm fees, workmanship and brand restrictions. Saturday’s RM566 figure is GB Gold’s indicative 999.9 bar sale price at 10:15 AM MYT. It is not a universal Malaysian gold price or a guaranteed transaction quote.
